Study
The Federal Work Study Program offers you an
opportunity to gain valuable work experience
that will enhance your skills and future
employment prospects. If you have received a Federal Work
Study award, be sure to come to Student
Financial Services located in room C-10
(Enrollment Services Center) to sign up for a
FWS Orientation/Placement Workshop. Don’t let your FWS award go to
waste.
Please note the following FWS
guidelines:
v
FWS students must be registered
for at least 6 credits per semester, be
matriculated and in good academic standing.
v
All wages earned during intersession will be
subject to FICA withholding.
v
The
last day of work for all Federal Work-Study
students for the 2009-2010 academic year,
regardless of placement date, is Monday August

Fall I & II 2009 classes.
v
All FWS time sheets must be
forwarded to the Office of Student Financial
Services in C-316 by the due date.
ON-CAMPUS

attend a FWS workshop prior to a job placement. All
returning awardees who wish to return to a
prior job site must confirm with the site
supervisor. Any student
changing work location can either e-mail the
new site supervisor by clicking on the name
in the appropriate box or call the site for
more information and/or to set up an
interview.
In either case you must pick-up and complete
a new "Contract Packet" for the Academic Year
2009-2010 and return the completed packet to the
SFS/ESC room C-107. All the general rules,
regulations and requirements apply. Please bring
your award letter to the workshop/ orientation
appointment.

Instructions for Completing Timesheet
- Students
can only be paid for hours actually
worked. Federal and State Laws prohibit
any deviation from this regulation. An
unpaid work break is mandatory if the
student works more than six consecutive
hours; one-half hour is the minimum
break allowed.
- All
entries must be made in ink; all changes
on the timesheet must be initialed by
the supervisor.
- Certify
the student’s hours by signing your
name in the space provided.
-
A
student may work up to an average of
twenty hours a week during the academic
year unless you are notified otherwise
by the Federal Work Study Coordinator.
During certain periods, such as summer
vacation, students may work full-time
with permission of the college and the
supervisor.
-
Supervisors
are responsible for making sure the
students do not earn more than their FWS
awards.
-
Timesheets
are for a specific period in accordance
with the Schedule of Payroll Periods.
There is only on payroll period per
sheet. Do not split pay periods.
-
Total
hours for the day must not include
breaks, lunch or supper periods.
-
If
the pay rate changes during the payroll
period, an additional timesheet is to be
submitted starting with the beginning
date of the new pay rate.
-
Please
ensure that you do not schedule a
student to work during their scheduled
classes.
-
Completed
time sheets must be mailed or faxed.
They may not be returned in person by
the student.
A
late, improperly completed or illegible
timesheet will substantially delay
payment.
