Network Services Department installs and supports a robust network on campus
for data communications and maintains infrastructure services. The Network
Services Team addresses interoperability issues related to hardware,
software, and connectivity of communications. This includes cable, fiber
optics and/or wireless communications and services for over 3,000 data
nodes.
The Network Services Department is responsible for selecting, installing,
and maintaining the college’s centralized servers. These servers host a wide
variety of applications on various network platforms. Our team manages
e-mail for faculty, staff ,and students. We also host the web pages, and
provide file and print services, as well as course management systems.
Additionally, the team maintains a large storage area network (SAN) that is
well over nine terabytes and growing.
Network Administration provides design and implementation services for new
college spaces that are used by faculty, staff and students. This includes
wiring, PC and peripheral recommendations, audio visual equipment
recommendations, and other consultation services.
Technology Support Center
The TSC Team provides IT helpdesk operations for LaGuardia Community College
which includes the various organizations that are housed on our campus.
Support is provided from 8 AM to 10 PM, Monday thru Friday. The center
provides a variety of IT services to our college community. This includes
hardware, and software troubleshooting, software installations, systems
account management, and PC and peripheral installation.
The Technology Support Center is the main conduit between the user community
and the Division of Information Technology for all IT related services. All
requests received by the TSC are logged into ticket tracking database that
facilitates checking the status of each request.
