1 - How do I register on the CUNY Portal? (First Time Users)

Please follow the steps below to register in the CUNY portal and access your LaGuardia Blackboard courses.

• Type in the following URL: https://cunyportal.cuny.edu
• Click on the link "Register for a New Account"
• Click on the link "Student" - I am currently enrolled as a student at a CUNY college.
• Verify your information answering the security questions to create a user name and password.
• Select "Next"and complete the submission.

2 - How do I access my CUNY Portal account and Blackboard?

To access your Blackboard account, you need to logon to the CUNY Portal first.

• Type in the following URL: https://cunyportal.cuny.edu
• Enter your User Name and Password and click "Login"
• In the APPLICATIONS / RESOURCES module select the link "Blackboard"
• Find your courses listed in the "My Courses" module located on the right side of the Blackboard home page.

3 - I forgot my CUNY Portal password.

• Type in the following URL: https://cunyportal.cuny.edu

You have two choices to reset your password, find the following link (options) to reset your password on the CUNY Portal site:

a. - Click on "Account and Password Reset"
(re-validate your account using your confidential information)

b. - Click on "E-mail a New Password" (a new password will be sent via e-mail)

4 - How do I make LaGuardia my primary school in my CUNY Portal account?

To make LaGuardia your primary school in your CUNY Portal profile.
• Type in the following URL: https://cunyportal.cuny.edu
• Enter your User Name and Password and click "Login"
• Click the link "My Profile" (Located on the top right side of the page)
• Click "Modify" to make changes
• Change the "Primary College" pull-down menu so that it is set to
"Fiorello H. LaGuardia Community College."
• Click the "Save" button when finished.

5 - How do I change my e-mail address in Blackboard 8?

Your e-mail address in Blackboard must be a CUNY e-mail address domain and cannot be updated with a personal e-mail address.

To update your e-mail address;

- Go to "Tools" panel on your Blackboard Home tab.
- Click "Update Email" link
- Type in your LaGuardia Live email address
- Click Submit.

6 - How do I change my e-mail address in my CUNY Portal account?

To change your e-mail address in the CUNY Portal, go to: https://cunyportal.cuny.edu

• Click the link "My Profile" (Located on the top right side of the page)
• Click "Modify" to make changes
- Select "Email" (Enter an e-mail address)
- Click on "Save"

7 - I cannot find my courses listed in Blackboard.

There are few reasons why your courses are not listed in your account.

- Be aware that not all instructors use Blackboard as part as their class.
Please find out whether or not your instructor is planning on using Blackboard during the semester.

- Fix your course module to find your courses: When logging on to Blackboard, from the home page,

- Click on the pencil icon on the top-right corner of the module,
- Select the course (name or ID) to be displayed in the home page of your Blackboard account, then click submit.

-You have been dropped from the course, go to C107 Registar to clear your stop immediately. (Once your stop is cleared in Registrar, allow 24 to 48 hours to be re-enrolled in your Blackboard courses.)

- You can also check for stop messages posted in in your E-SIMS in your CUNY Portal account.

- If you are still unable to see your courses, please pass by our office B-127 or email us at Blackboard Support

8 - How do I check my grades?

After logging on into your Blackboard course,

- Select Course Tools from the left-hand side menu
- Select My Grades option.
(You will be able to see your grades only if your instructor has made the option available.)

9 - I changed my last name long time ago how do I change it in my Blackboard account?

All users information is uploaded into the Blackboard system with info provided by SIMS, this means, users information cannot be manually modified.

In order to permanently change your name in Blackboard, pass by the Registrar's office: C107 to update your student records.
