Web Development
The Web Team's mission is to provide support, technology direction and webpage templates in the development of new webpages created by the departments within the college. In certain situations, we also assist in the creation of new websites for various college departments, which are then maintained by the department directly.
The Web Team is currently working with the College's Web Liaison Committee, chaired by the Web Services Coordinator, Terry Saljanin, to improve the content, structure and navigation of the website, especially the areas for current students and faculty & staff. Each division of the college has a representative on this committee which will be responsible for making recommendations on how to improve our web visitors' experience and helping to guide the departments within their division in developing their own webpages.
Guidelines
Access to the main site of LaGuardia and its content is restricted, and all
websites are constantly monitored for appropriate content, design and to
maintain college's rules.
General Recommended Guidelines
DO - Include your name and e-mail address, or the department name and division
if it is a departmental page, on your primary page.
DO - Express yourself in language and usage which is appropriate to a broad
public audience of potential readers/viewers.
DO - Think twice about what information you give out about yourself (e.g. campus
or home address, photos, phone numbers, etc.). Remember that your information
will be available world wide!
DO - Include the date of last update on each page (a recommended practice, but
not a requirement).
DON'T - post information (text, photos or graphics) unless you are the owner or
have the permission of the owner. Specifically DON'T use copyrighted materials
without permission. LaGuardia CC seals and trademarks may not be used on student
pages, but may be used on faculty and staff pages which relate primarily to
their professional roles at the College.
DON'T - post the photo of anyone without their permission.
DON'T - use obscene or intolerant language, or similarly offensive graphic or
video images, inappropriate for electronic and all other forms of discourse. The
determination of what is obscene, offensive, or intolerant is within the sole
discretion of the College.
DON'T - link to pages and sites which you know would not meet these guidelines.
DON'T - use your pages for commercial, for-profit enterprises, except as
permitted by College policy.
